Fiber Optic Field Technician – Entry Level

About the role

We are seeking an entry‑level Fiber Optic Field Technician to join Linksys Fiber Networks in Molo. The role involves installing, maintaining, troubleshooting and supporting fiber optic network infrastructure for FTTH/FTTB projects.

Key responsibilities

• Roll out and expand fiber network infrastructure
• Install and splice FTTH/FTTB connections
• Troubleshoot signal loss and service interruptions
• Perform customer premise installations
• Maintain last‑mile infrastructure
• Provide on‑site technical support
• Use fiber testing and diagnostic equipment to identify faults
• Follow health, safety and PPE procedures during field operations
• Ensure installations and repairs meet technical and quality standards

Required profile

• Diploma or Certificate in ICT, Telecommunication or Networking
• 1–2 years hands‑on field experience
• Physical fitness and ability to work at heights
• First aid, fire and safety training
• Valid driving or motorbike licence (advantageous)
• Safety certifications such as pole handling

• OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer)
• Power meter and visual fault locator
• PON (Passive Optical Network) technology
• Safety standards – PPE use and pole handling
