Field Civil and Structural Engineer

About the role

Tatu City is seeking an experienced Field Civil and Structural Engineer to lead on‑site supervision of all structural works, ensuring compliance with drawings, specifications and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary on‑site technical expert for deep foundations, reinforced concrete, post‑tensioning systems and structural steel erection.
• Conduct daily inspections of rebar placement, formwork, concrete pouring and post‑tensioning stressing, documenting compliance with approved drawings.
• Implement and enforce the project QA/QC programme, reviewing contractor submittals such as shop drawings, material certificates and method statements.
• Interpret complex structural drawings, resolve RFIs with design consultants and coordinate with MEP and architectural engineers to ensure correct embedments and penetrations.
• Champion safety for high‑risk activities, monitoring adherence to Kenyan building codes, ACI, AISC and other international best practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an internationally recognised university.
• 8‑12 years of site‑based structural engineering experience on large‑scale, high‑rise projects (20 + storeys).
• Background with major international contractors or supervision consultants; experience on giga projects or with EPC firms such as Bechtel is a plus.
• Hands‑on international project exposure in challenging construction environments.
• Strong knowledge of ACI 318, AISC and ASCE 7 design codes.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and basic structural analysis tools.
• Ability to read and interpret complex structural drawings and specifications.
• Experience implementing QA/QC programmes and documenting inspections.
• Familiarity with ACI 318, AISC and ASCE 7 codes.
