Field Collection Officer

About the role

The Field Collection Officer is responsible for recovering aged loan balances across Kenya. You will engage directly with borrowers, negotiate repayment plans, and conduct on‑site visits to ensure timely collections while maintaining strong client relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Contact clients with aged loans, negotiate repayment terms, and arrange field visits to recover outstanding amounts.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with borrowers, providing information and support on loan status and repayment options.
• Perform regular field visits to verify client information, assess financial situations, and collect payments.
• Maintain accurate records of collection activities, prepare regular performance reports, and share insights with the Collections Manager.
• Ensure all collection activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards; report any fraud or risk indicators.
• Achieve monthly collection targets and earn commissions for performance exceeding set goals.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in Business is preferred.
• At least 24 months of proven experience in debt collection, preferably within financial services or micro‑finance.
• Experience in fieldwork and client relationship management is highly desirable.

Required skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Good understanding of debt collection processes and relevant regulations.
• Proficiency with mobile and computer applications for reporting and communication.
