Field Recovery / Repossession Officer

About the role

The Field Recovery / Repossession Officer is responsible for locating defaulting clients, recovering outstanding debts and repossessing collateral in accordance with company policy and legal guidelines. This role works closely with the credit, collections and legal teams to ensure timely and compliant recovery of assets.

Key responsibilities

• Locate and contact defaulting clients to recover outstanding debts.
• Conduct field visits to recover assets or negotiate repayment plans.
• Repossess collateral items following company policy and legal requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of all recovery activities and client interactions.
• Prepare daily and weekly reports on recovery progress.
• Liaise with the legal team on escalated cases.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and ethical standards.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients to encourage voluntary repayment.
• Collaborate closely with the credit and collections team.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of experience in field debt recovery, repossession or related collections roles.
• Good understanding of legal guidelines governing asset repossession.
• Strong record‑keeping and reporting abilities.
• Ability to work independently in the field and manage multiple cases simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
