Finance Officer – Nyeri

About the role

The Venture Finance Officer will ensure that all financial flows for Venture Kenya are accurately recorded, tracked, and reported. You will oversee receipt processing, disbursements, and maintain audit‑ready records while supporting the Country Director and Holding Finance with timely reports.

Key responsibilities

• Record and safeguard all incoming funds on the day they are received.
• Review and approve payment requests against approved budgets, ensuring complete supporting documentation.
• Supervise the Income & Receipts, Disbursements & Payments, and Records, Assets & Financial Reports functions.
• Maintain complete, audit‑ready financial records with no missing invoices or unreconciled transactions.
• Compile and submit monthly financial reports to the Country Director and Holding Finance.
• Identify and resolve missing documentation or discrepancies before month‑end close.
• Escalate payment requests that exceed approved thresholds or show signs of irregularity.
• Respond to financial queries from division heads, auditors, and Holding Finance.

Required profile

• A degree or professional qualification in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• Solid experience in financial management, budgeting, or accounting, preferably within a field‑based or nonprofit/social‑impact organization in Kenya or East Africa.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
• Good judgment to approve, hold, or escalate payments as needed.
• Clear communication skills for explaining financial status to stakeholders.
