Financial Controller

About the role

The Financial Controller will lead ALX’s finance function in Nairobi, ensuring accurate reporting, robust controls, and strategic financial insight to support the organization’s mission of developing Africa’s next generation of leaders.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS and GAAP.
• Coordinate external audits and ensure timely completion.
• Implement and monitor financial controls and risk‑management processes.
• Oversee tax compliance, filings and optimisation strategies.
• Manage cash flow, working capital and treasury operations, including banking relationships.
• Develop budgets, forecasts and financial analyses to identify trends and support decision‑making.
• Lead, mentor and expand a high‑performing finance team.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Group Financial Controller or equivalent in a complex, multinational organisation.
• Strong knowledge of international accounting standards (IFRS, GAAP) and tax regulations.
• Demonstrated ability to build finance operations and implement financial systems.
