Food Safety Trainee – Support Kitchen & School Programs

About the role

The Food Safety Trainee will assist the Food Safety Associate in implementing and monitoring food safety programmes across assigned kitchens and schools. This full‑time, on‑site role offers hands‑on experience in food safety inspections, verification activities, and corrective‑action follow‑up while building technical competence in recognised standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct routine inspections of kitchens and schools to verify compliance with hygiene, PPE, housekeeping and sanitation standards.
• Monitor receiving, storage, preparation, production, dispatch and service activities for temperature control, segregation and cross‑contamination risks.
• Support collection of food, water and environmental samples according to established protocols and schedules.
• Assist in traceability exercises, food safety audits and incident investigations.
• Document inspection findings, maintain accurate records and report deviations to the Food Safety Associate.
• Follow up on corrective actions, escalating overdue or recurring non‑conformities.
• Help kitchen managers and school teams implement food safety procedures and reinforce good practices.

Required profile

• Recent graduate or individual with minimal work experience (approximately 1 month) seeking entry‑level exposure.
• Strong interest in food safety, hygiene and public health.
• Ability to work under guidance, follow protocols and report findings accurately.

Required skills

• Knowledge of ISO 22000 and HACCP principles.
• Familiarity with Food Safety Management Systems (FSMS).
• Sample collection techniques for food, water and environmental testing.
• Temperature monitoring and control.
• Traceability and record‑keeping procedures.
