Forward Deployed AI Engineer

About the role

NestAI is seeking a Forward Deployed AI Engineer to work directly within customer environments, bridging advanced machine‑learning research and real‑world battlefield operations. You will validate prototypes, adapt solutions to operational constraints, and feed insights back into the core NestOS platform.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with defence customer teams to capture operational requirements, constraints, and failure modes.
• Translate these requirements into concrete technical problems and design algorithms for sequential decision‑making, autonomous behaviour, or specialised workflows.
• Adapt, fine‑tune and harden machine‑learning models to operate reliably on noisy, real‑time sensor data.
• Rapidly prototype solutions on‑site or in customer development labs and transition successful prototypes to production‑grade implementations.
• Serve as the technical liaison, communicating capabilities and limits to operators and engineering teams.

Required profile

• Strong background in AI/ML engineering with experience across deep learning, decision‑making and LLM‑driven workflows.
• Comfortable working in client‑facing, fast‑changing environments and handling ill‑specified problems.
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary squads where complementary expertise covers the full stack.

Required skills

• Machine learning
• Deep learning
• Large language models (LLMs)
• Signal processing (classical or learned approaches)
