About the role
UNICEF is building Ingazi, an AI‑powered digital platform that connects young people in Rwanda with career guidance, skills‑building opportunities and employment pathways. The Full Stack Engineer will work from Kigali to design, develop and maintain scalable web applications that power this platform.
Key responsibilities
- Develop, test and maintain scalable AI‑powered web applications using modern technologies.
- Design and integrate GraphQL and REST APIs for internal and external services.
- Contribute to architecture, scalability and performance optimisation of the platform.
- Create responsive, user‑friendly front‑end interfaces from wireframes and prototypes (Figma, etc.).
- Optimise SQL database schemas, queries and access patterns for PostgreSQL and MySQL.
- Implement data protection, privacy and web‑application security best practices.
- Write unit, integration and end‑to‑end tests and support CI/CD pipelines.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and collaborate with product managers, Scrum Masters and multidisciplinary teams.
Required profile
- Minimum 3 years of full‑stack web application development experience.
- Proven experience with front‑end technologies such as React.js, Next.js, TypeScript and Apollo GraphQL.
- Back‑end experience with Node.js, Express.js, Strapi and GraphQL APIs.
- Strong knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL).
- Hands‑on experience with Git, Docker, CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Familiarity with UI/UX design and prototyping tools (Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, Miro).
- Understanding of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and AI‑powered tools.
