Full‑time Consultant Urogynaecologist – Clinical Faculty

About the role

The Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology seeks a full‑time Clinical Faculty member specialized in Urogynaecology. The role combines independent specialist clinical service, teaching of residents and medical students, and contribution to research and departmental governance.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and manage women with pelvic floor disorders, including ordering and interpreting urodynamics, cystourethroscopy and pelvic floor imaging.
• Perform vaginal and abdominal reconstructive surgeries, continence procedures and fistula repairs.
• Teach, supervise and assess obstetrics & gynaecology residents and undergraduate students in clinics, wards, labour suite and operating theatres.
• Lead multidisciplinary collaboration with urology, colorectal surgery, physiotherapy, radiology and geriatrics for complex cases.
• Develop and conduct clinical research, publish findings and contribute to departmental audits and outcome registries.
• Participate in on‑call rota, clinical governance activities and the development of policies, protocols and best‑practice guidelines.

Required profile

• MBChB (or equivalent) and Master of Medicine in Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
• Fellowship or recognized subspecialty training in Urogynaecology/Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery.
• Registration (or eligibility) with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council and specialist recognition in Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
• Minimum two years post‑specialist clinical experience with an independent Urogynaecology practice.
• Demonstrated experience teaching and supervising postgraduate trainees and undergraduate students.
• Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics certification; research activity and peer‑reviewed publications are desirable.
