About the role
The Gender & Social Inclusion Officer will join IFAD’s Environment, Climate, Gender and Social Inclusion Division to provide technical expertise for integrating gender equality and social inclusion across IFAD‑funded programmes in East and Southern Africa.
Key responsibilities
- Advise on gender and social inclusion during project design, supervision and implementation.
- Support programme development, knowledge management, monitoring and evaluation, and partnership building.
- Strengthen integration of gender, youth, disability and social inclusion aspects across rural development initiatives.
- Deliver capacity‑building and technical support to regional IFAD teams.
- Produce analytical reports and contribute to knowledge products and best‑practice dissemination.
- Undertake regional travel across East and Southern Africa as required.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Sociology, Economics, Rural Development, Human or Development Geography or a related field.
- Minimum three years of relevant experience in gender equality and social inclusion within rural development programmes.
- Strong expertise in inclusion of women, youth, Indigenous Peoples, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups.
- Experience supporting development projects, preferably investment programmes.
- Excellent analytical, reporting, facilitation and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
- Fluency in English; working knowledge of French and/or Portuguese is an asset.
Required skills
What we offer
- Monthly living allowance of US$2,765 – US$3,215.
- UN Volunteer package including insurance, leave and other entitlements.
