General Manager – Hospitality Operations

About the role

Maseno University is seeking a General Manager to lead its hospitality operations. The role oversees commercial and enterprise activities, ensuring high standards of service, financial performance and strategic growth.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and manage catering, accommodation and other hotel services, including policy development and implementation.
• Collaborate with Food & Beverage to maintain quality standards and address service issues.
• Prepare budgets, financial plans and annual operating, marketing and capital budgets.
• Identify revenue opportunities, maximize profitability and ensure operational efficiency.
• Oversee food safety, hygiene protocols and facility maintenance, including renovations and furnishings.
• Manage human resources, performance management and staff development.
• Coordinate with Sales & Marketing to drive revenue growth and support reporting and business processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management or equivalent with at least 12 years of relevant experience.
• Minimum five years in senior management at a three‑star (or higher) hotel.
• Master’s degree in Hospitality Management or related field is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of financial management principles and bar/entertainment industry.
• Demonstrated leadership, strategic thinking and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work under minimal supervision, handle pressure and flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
• Proficiency in computer applications and performance management.
