General Manager – Interior Design

About the role

The General Manager – Interior Design will provide strategic direction and operational leadership for a fast‑growing interior design firm in Nairobi. Reporting to senior ownership, the role combines business development, project oversight and team management to drive profitability and market expansion.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute business strategies that increase revenue and market share.
• Lead large‑scale interior design and fit‑out projects from concept to hand‑over, ensuring scope, budget, quality and timeline compliance.
• Oversee budgeting, financial performance and operational efficiency across all functions.
• Manage multidisciplinary teams of designers, architects, project managers and support staff, fostering a high‑performance culture.
• Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships, leading presentations, negotiations and contract discussions.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards and internal quality controls, including procurement and vendor management.

Required profile

• Degree in Interior Design, Architecture or a related field; MBA or professional certification is a plus.
• Minimum 5 years of senior leadership experience within interior design, architecture or a related industry.
• Proven track record managing large‑scale projects and multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong understanding of project management, business operations and financial management.
• Excellent leadership, strategic planning and business development capabilities.
