General Manager, Kenya Re Foundation

About the role

The General Manager will provide strategic and operational leadership to the Kenya Re Foundation, shaping its corporate social investment agenda, sustainability programmes and stakeholder partnerships. This senior role ensures measurable social impact while safeguarding the corporation’s reputation and compliance with the Trust Deed and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and periodically review the Foundation’s strategic plan, CSR policy and grant‑making framework, aligning with the corporation’s overall strategy and stakeholder expectations.
• Identify priority focus areas such as education, health, environment and financial inclusion, and design high‑impact, sustainable programmes.
• Build and maintain long‑term relationships with government agencies, development partners, NGOs, donors and other key stakeholders, securing complementary capital and skills.
• Oversee design, rollout and monitoring of grant and community programmes, ensuring transparent fund utilisation and robust impact measurement.
• Manage the Foundation’s assets, resources and finances, optimise procurement processes and drive spend efficiencies.
• Provide secretarial support to the Board of Trustees, prepare board papers and ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and corporate policies.
• Lead, inspire and develop the Foundation’s staff, fostering a culture that reflects the corporation’s values.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Communications or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• At least 15 years of relevant experience, with 10 years in senior management within the impact sector, development, foundation or related field.
• Demonstrated team leadership and experience engaging with a Board of Directors or Trustees.
• Proven track record of designing, managing and delivering impactful CSR or community programmes, including budget management.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Strong strategic planning, problem‑solving, analytical and report‑writing abilities.
• Knowledge of governance, CSR frameworks, financial controls, risk management and compliance for a government‑owned entity.
