Governance & Regulatory Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Governance & Regulatory Manager to lead the oversight of corporate governance, regulatory compliance and board administration for Equity Group Holdings. The role ensures that the company operates in line with evolving legislation and maintains the highest standards of governance.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor changes in legislation and regulatory frameworks and keep senior management informed.
• Maintain accurate minutes and records, and support the planning and execution of board and annual general meetings.
• Draft agendas, timetables and board papers, and ensure timely dissemination to directors.
• File statutory declarations, regulatory reports and other required filings within prescribed deadlines.
• Keep the register of directors and secretaries up‑to‑date and review governance documents regularly.
• Assist the Company Secretary in training directors on governance duties and in advising the board on legal, accounting and tax matters.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of experience in legal work, company secretarial practice or regulatory compliance, preferably within financial services.
• Strong analytical ability with attention to detail and proven problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent organizational capabilities and the capacity to work independently while keeping management fully informed.
• Confident communicator, both oral and written, able to interact with senior internal and external stakeholders.
• High ethical standards, confidentiality and the ability to influence senior leadership.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of corporate governance regulations and the Kenyan regulatory environment.
• Professional certification in company secretarial practice.
• Legal qualification (Bachelor’s degree in Law, Advocate of the High Court).
