Head of Operations

About the role

The Head of Operations will lead Oya Microcredit’s operational functions, driving product delivery, client outreach, and portfolio growth across Kenya. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will shape strategy, manage risk, and ensure compliance while fostering a high‑performing team.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement operational strategies for product delivery, client outreach, and portfolio expansion.
• Oversee daily operations, including field visits to ensure adherence to company policies.
• Monitor and mitigate operational risks, especially fraud, by supervising key control activities.
• Set performance KPIs, evaluate operational results, and report to the CEO and Board with actionable improvement plans.
• Mentor and train operational staff to maintain strong technical competency.
• Conduct regular business environment reviews, identifying threats and opportunities and recommending appropriate actions.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of experience in micro‑finance, banking, or financial services, with product development exposure.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Finance or a related field; a master’s degree is an advantage.
• Strong leadership, communication, and analytical abilities.
