Heavy Structural Steel Project Coordinator

About the role

The Heavy Structural Steel Project Coordinator will lead the planning, execution, and delivery of large‑scale steel structures from contract award through fabrication, logistics, erection and handover. Reporting to the Projects Department Manager, the role ensures safety, quality, schedule and budget compliance while acting as the main liaison between clients, consultants, contractors and internal teams.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate all phases of structural steel projects, including fabrication, material logistics, site erection and final handover.
• Develop, monitor and update project schedules, budgets and resource plans.
• Synchronise engineering, procurement, fabrication and site teams to meet project milestones.
• Control project costs, manage variations, claims and contractual documentation, and report commercial risks.
• Review structural drawings and specifications for compliance with project requirements.
• Arrange material procurement and delivery to support fabrication and installation timelines.
• Conduct site visits to verify progress, quality, safety and regulatory compliance.
• Prepare regular progress reports for management and maintain communication with clients, consultants and contractors.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or a related field.
• Project Management certification (preferred).
• 7–10 years of experience managing heavy structural steel projects in fabrication or construction.
• Proven experience delivering factories, warehouses, industrial plants, commercial buildings or similar steel works.
• Strong knowledge of steel fabrication, erection and construction methodologies.
