HL7 Integration and Migration Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced HL7 Integration Engineer to lead the modernization of a multi‑facility radiology environment. The role involves assessing existing HL7 and DICOM workflows, consolidating integration logic, and migrating key services to a cloud platform.

Key responsibilities

• Perform a full assessment of the current HL7 landscape, documenting engines, channels, message types, routing rules and failure‑handling processes.
• Work with legacy engineering staff to capture undocumented workflows and produce maintainable runbooks.
• Review and streamline Mirth Connect (NextGen Connect) and BridgeLink configurations, removing redundant or inefficient channels.
• Design a centralized HL7 hub and support new cloud‑based PACS integration.
• Develop event‑driven HL7 workflows to keep PACS and clinical systems synchronized and avoid duplicate reads.
• Configure, troubleshoot and optimize HL7 V2 interfaces (ADT, ORM, ORU, SIU, etc.).
• Build and modify Mirth channels, filters, mappings, routing logic and JavaScript transformations.
• Support DICOM integration using DCM4CHE, DICOM routers, PACS and RIS.
• Participate in migration planning, testing, cut‑over, rollback and production support, including moving services to AWS or Azure.
• Provide regular technical status updates, risk assessments and architecture documentation.

Required profile

• Strong hands‑on experience with HL7 V2 integrations in a production environment.
• Proven expertise with Mirth Connect / NextGen Connect and BridgeLink or similar interface engines.
• Experience migrating integration services to cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with engineering, clinical operations, vendors and leadership.
