Human Resources Manager

About the role

The Human Resources Manager will lead Umba’s HR function, aligning people strategies with the bank’s rapid growth objectives. You will act as a strategic partner to senior leadership, fostering a high‑performance, compliant, and people‑centred environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end recruitment, selection and onboarding across all departments.
• Partner with department heads on workforce planning, succession and talent development.
• Advise managers and employees on employee‑relations matters, disciplinary procedures, grievance handling and conflict resolution.
• Ensure compliance with Kenyan employment legislation, labor regulations and internal HR policies.
• Support internal and external audit readiness, maintaining accurate and confidential HR records.
• Drive performance‑management processes, including goal setting, evaluations, coaching and development plans.
• Promote employee engagement initiatives and maintain a positive workplace culture.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading HR functions in fast‑growing organisations.
• Strong knowledge of Kenyan labour law and HR best practices.
• Excellent interpersonal and advisory skills, able to influence senior leadership.
• Strategic mindset with the ability to translate business goals into HR initiatives.
