ICT Officer I (Database Administrator)

About the role

The ICT Officer I will serve as the primary Database Administrator for Meru University of Science and Technology, ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of the institution's data assets.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimise relational database queries using SQL or MySQL.
• Configure and manage Windows Server environments supporting database services.
• Implement and maintain data backup strategies and restoration procedures.
• Manage Active Directory services related to database access and security.
• Integrate database solutions with enterprise applications via RESTful, OData, JSON, and SOAP APIs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or Software Engineering.
• Three (3) years of experience as a Database Administrator in a higher‑education setting.
• High‑level expertise across multiple functional areas of the institution.
• Knowledge of computer hardware, networking, and professional registration.
• Compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution.

Required skills

• Navision 2018 or Dynamics 365 Business Central.
• Microsoft certification in Navision or Dynamics 365 BC.
• Cross‑platform development languages: PHP, Python, C#, JavaScript.
• API integration experience: RESTful, OData, JSON, SOAP.
• Windows Server configuration and management.
• SQL and MySQL query development.
• Active Directory configuration and management.
• Data backup and restoration techniques for relational databases.
