Information Analyst Intern – SRM Hub

About the role

The Information Analyst Intern will support the Security Risk Management (SRM) Hub in Nairobi by monitoring political and security developments across Eastern and Southern Africa. The role combines open‑source research, AI‑assisted analysis, and knowledge‑management tasks to produce timely risk insights for the region.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor political and security events using open sources and AI‑assisted research techniques.
• Assist in preparing monthly reports, regional risk radar products, analytical briefs and other SRM publications.
• Conduct structured desktop research, validate information through source verification and critical analysis.
• Apply AI tools to identify trends, synthesize large volumes of data, and support structured risk analysis.
• Maintain country monitoring trackers, indicators and signals lists for early‑warning purposes.
• Support the development and upkeep of AI‑enabled knowledge‑management systems such as SharePoint.
• Prepare presentations, dashboards, visualisations and briefing materials using conventional and AI‑assisted tools.
• Identify opportunities to improve analytical processes through automation and responsible AI use.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or recently completed a degree in Political Science, Security Studies or a related field.
• Strong interest in political and security analysis, especially in the Eastern and Southern African context.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency with AI‑assisted research and analysis tools.
• Experience using SharePoint or similar digital repository platforms.
