Instrument Laboratory Analyst

About the role

We are looking for an Instrument Laboratory Analyst to perform chromatographic and elemental analysis on food, non‑food and other client samples. The role supports SGS’s commitment to quality, safety and regulatory compliance by delivering accurate, reliable test results.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct instrumental analysis using GC‑MS/MS, LC‑MS/MS, GC‑MS, GC‑FID, ICP‑OES and UV‑Visible spectrophotometry.
• Follow SOPs, national/international standards and client guidelines while ensuring ISO 17025 and GLP compliance.
• Prepare samples, record raw data, verify results and release data within agreed turnaround times.
• Maintain laboratory housekeeping, health‑and‑safety practices and proper sample retention or disposal.
• Stay updated on analytical standards and develop new methods as needed.
• Provide mentorship or training to junior staff and cover sample registry duties during absences.
• Perform any additional tasks assigned by management.

Required profile

• Minimum degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or related field.
• At least two years of experience in a multi‑purpose testing laboratory.
• Good knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025, ISO 9001 and HSE standards.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and follow QA/QC procedures.

Required skills

• GC‑MS/MS, LC‑MS/MS, GC‑MS, GC‑FID operation.
• ICP‑OES and UV‑Visible spectrophotometer proficiency.
• Chromatographic and elemental/instrumental analysis techniques.
• Sample preparation and data validation.
• Understanding of ISO 17025, GLP and QA/QC systems.
