Internal Audit Assistant

About the role

Talent Grid Africa, on behalf of a client in the furniture retail sector, is looking for a detail‑oriented Internal Audit Assistant to support the internal audit function. You will help ensure operational efficiency, compliance and the effectiveness of internal controls across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning and executing operational, financial and compliance audits across departments.
• Evaluate internal controls, policies and procedures for adequacy.
• Perform audit testing, document findings and prepare working papers.
• Draft audit reports and summaries for management review.
• Monitor compliance with company policies, statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Identify process weaknesses, inefficiencies and potential risks.
• Support follow‑up audits to verify implementation of corrective actions.
• Analyse accounting records, financial reports and operational data for discrepancies.
• Participate in inventory audits, cash counts and spot checks as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and proper filing of audit documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
• 1–2 years of experience in auditing, accounting or finance roles.
• Experience in internal audit within retail, FMCG or corporate environments is preferred.
• Progress towards CPA qualification is an advantage.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
