Internal Auditor

About the role

The Internal Auditor will provide independent, objective assurance on the effectiveness of governance, risk management and internal control processes at CIC Insurance Group. Reporting to the Director of Internal Audit, the role involves evaluating operations across underwriting, claims, finance, investments, procurement, HR, IT and branch functions. The position contributes to safeguarding assets and enhancing operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in risk assessments and help develop the annual internal audit work plan.
• Design and execute risk‑based audit assignments covering underwriting, claims, finance, investments, procurement, HR, IT and branch operations.
• Review business processes, transactions, systems and controls to assess adequacy, effectiveness and compliance.
• Prepare audit objectives, scope, risk and control matrices, work programmes and testing procedures.
• Perform substantive and compliance testing, gather sufficient audit evidence and document findings.
• Identify control gaps, process inefficiencies, financial irregularities and emerging risks.
• Produce clear, evidence‑based audit reports with recommendations for improvement.
• Monitor implementation of agreed risk mitigation and control improvement measures.

Required profile

• Reports directly to the Director of Internal Audit.
• Provides independent and objective assurance on governance, risk management and internal controls.
• Able to evaluate operations, identify risks and ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
