Internal Auditor – Nairobi

About the role

The Internal Auditor will lead audit engagements to evaluate the effectiveness of Unga Holding’s internal control environment, identify risk areas, and recommend improvements. This full‑time, on‑site position is based in Nairobi and supports compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute end‑to‑end operational, financial, and compliance audits in line with IIA standards, from scoping to reporting.
• Develop risk‑based audit programs and test plans tailored to specific business processes and objectives.
• Assess design and operating effectiveness of internal controls, identify gaps, and advise management on cost‑effective enhancements.
• Produce evidence‑based workpapers and high‑impact audit reports that highlight root causes, business impacts, and actionable recommendations.
• Monitor remediation of agreed‑upon management action plans and follow up to ensure timely closure.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration or a related field.
• Professional certification such as CPA, CIA, ACCA or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in internal auditing, external auditing or risk management.
