Laundry Supervisor

About the role

The Laundry Supervisor will lead daily laundry operations on Diego Garcia, ensuring efficient service delivery while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, sanitation and quality. This role combines hands‑on supervision with team management to support the island’s facilities and personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate all laundry activities including washing, drying, ironing, folding and delivery of garments and linens.
• Monitor staff performance, productivity and quality to meet operational targets.
• Train and mentor employees on equipment use, chemical handling and safety protocols.
• Conduct routine inspections and oversee preventive maintenance, repairs and equipment replacement.
• Manage inventory of detergents, chemicals and linens, ensuring timely replenishment.
• Ensure sorting, washing and drying follow sanitation and infection‑control guidelines.
• Maintain accurate records of service volumes, equipment maintenance, chemical usage and personnel performance.
• Communicate with managers and facility representatives to address issues and prioritize workloads.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of experience in industrial or commercial laundry operations, including supervisory responsibilities.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Fluent reading, speaking and comprehension of English.
• Valid passport for at least one year at time of hiring.

Required skills

• Knowledge of commercial laundry processes and equipment.
• Experience handling cleaning chemicals safely.
• Understanding of workplace safety and infection‑control protocols.
