Lead Agronomist

About the role

Finagra is seeking a Lead Agronomist to own agronomic performance across its commercial farms in Kenya. This hands‑on senior role combines field leadership with collaboration on digital farming tools.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full crop cycle from land selection, preparation and planting through harvest on all Finagra farms in Kenya.
• Develop and refine land‑selection parameters, crop protocols, growing calendars and agronomic standards for Kenyan conditions.
• Spend significant time in the field monitoring crop development, identifying risks and making timely agronomic decisions.
• Ensure consistent implementation of best practices across multiple farms and locations.
• Lead, coach and develop agronomists, REPs, farm managers and field teams.
• Collaborate with Operations, Procurement, Sales and Technology teams to align agronomic plans with commercial goals.
• Translate agronomic expertise into digital workflows, planning tools, decision‑support systems and AI‑enabled farm‑management products.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of hands‑on agronomy experience in commercial, open‑field crop production.
• Previous senior role such as Chief Agronomist, Head Agronomist or equivalent.
• Proven responsibility for crops across the full growing cycle.
• Experience leading agronomists, farm managers or field teams.
