Lead Solar Installer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Lead Installer to head our solar installation teams in Nairobi. You will oversee the complete on‑site installation of photovoltaic systems, ensuring safety, quality and compliance with all regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a crew of solar installers and technicians, assigning tasks and monitoring progress.
• Interpret design drawings, single‑line diagrams and site layouts and translate them into accurate on‑site work.
• Install mounting structures, solar panel arrays, inverters, batteries/BESS units, combiner boxes and associated wiring.
• Conduct pre‑installation site checks, enforce HSE procedures and ensure compliance with EPRA and Kenyan electrical codes.
• Perform system testing, commissioning, fault‑finding, string testing and earthing/grounding checks.
• Maintain installation records, checklists and handover documentation and report to the Project Manager.
• Manage tools, equipment and material reconciliation on site.
• Coach and mentor junior installers, and liaise with clients to address on‑site queries.

Required profile

• Diploma or certificate in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy or a related field.
• Minimum 4 years of hands‑on solar PV installation experience, including 1–2 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of Kenyan building and electrical codes and international standards (NEC, IEC, IEE).
