Loan Agent

About the role

The Loan Agent will join a fast‑growing lending team in Westlands, Nairobi, handling loan applications and collections. You will work closely with customers to assess creditworthiness, manage repayments and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Interview loan applicants, analyse financial documents and decide on approvals or declines within company guidelines.
• Monitor loan portfolios, send payment reminders and follow up on overdue payments via phone, SMS or email.
• Engage proactively with clients to recover overdue amounts, negotiating repayment plans or restructuring options.
• Maintain accurate customer records, record payment transactions and safeguard data confidentiality.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports on collection progress, portfolio quality and non‑performing loans.
• Adhere to internal lending policies, ethical standards and Central Bank or micro‑finance regulations.

Required profile

• Minimum two years of experience in loan origination, collections or credit assessment.
• Ability to analyse financial statements and evaluate credit risk.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with customers and negotiating repayment terms.
• High attention to detail and commitment to data confidentiality.
• Capability to meet reporting deadlines and produce accurate reports.
• Familiarity with Kenyan banking regulations and micro‑finance guidelines.
