Loans and Collection Officer

About the role

The Loans and Collection Officer will drive loan product marketing, assess credit‑worthiness, and manage the end‑to‑end loan origination process for our Nairobi branch. You will act as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring accurate documentation, compliance, and timely repayment plans.

Key responsibilities

• Market loan portfolio products, convert leads into customers and update daily marketing feedback.
• Evaluate applicants’ credit‑worthiness through interviews and financial analysis.
• Process and verify loan applications, ensuring completeness of documentation.
• Determine risk factors, design repayment plans, and justify approval or rejection decisions.
• Send client financial statements for MPESA/bank verification and conduct affordability checks.
• Respond to client inquiries, explain loan terms, eligibility, and repayment responsibilities.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of all loan products and build long‑term client relationships.
• Document interactions in the loan origination system, monitor loan performance and flag issues.
• Ensure compliance with regulations, internal policies and meet branch KPIs.
• Identify cross‑selling opportunities and develop referral networks.

Required profile

• Mid‑level experience (minimum 2 years) in loan origination, collection or related banking functions.
• Strong understanding of credit assessment, risk evaluation and repayment structuring.
• Good knowledge of Kenyan loan products and MPESA banking processes.
• Ability to produce clear reports and maintain accurate records.
