About the role
The Logistics Manager will oversee all logistical operations supporting medical and operational activities for the Dagahaley Project in Nairobi. This role ensures that supplies, transport, infrastructure and security procedures are coordinated efficiently in line with Médecins Sans Frontières standards.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate day‑to‑day logistics for medical and operational departments.
- Plan and prioritize logistics support while complying with MSF policies.
- Collaborate with medical, HR, finance and project teams to anticipate changing requirements.
- Support emergency responses and rapid operational scale‑up.
- Monitor stock levels and ensure timely replenishment of essential materials.
- Follow up orders and deliveries to minimise delays.
- Maintain warehouses according to MSF stock‑management standards.
- Manage vehicle fleet, including maintenance scheduling, fuel management and availability.
- Supervise transport planning for safe movement of staff, patients, supplies and equipment.
- Ensure communication systems (HF, VHF, satellite, telephone) remain operational and staff are trained.
- Oversee maintenance of offices, staff accommodation, warehouses and medical facilities.
- Coordinate repairs, small construction and ensure functional working environments.
- Maintain generators, electrical systems and other technical installations.
- Contribute to security procedures, contingency and evacuation planning from a logistics perspective.
Required profile
- Secondary education plus a technical diploma or university degree in Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or a related field.
- Minimum two years of experience managing logistics activities, preferably in humanitarian or remote settings.
- Experience with Médecins Sans Frontières or a similar NGO is a strong advantage.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of Somali or Swahili is an advantage.
