Manager – Mineral Exploration (5‑year contract)

About the role

The Manager, Mineral Exploration will lead geochemical exploration activities and provide technical advice to the CEO on the development of proven ore reserves. The appointment is on a five‑year contract, renewable subject to retirement age and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Design and manage diverse field‑based exploration programmes.
• Review research proposals and reports on geological investigation and mineral exploration.
• Oversee performance of geological contractors and consultants.
• Design and execute exploratory drilling, extract rock cores, and model 3D geometry of ore bodies to estimate grade and tonnage.
• Conduct studies to identify growth opportunities and assess viability of mineral prospects.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, health and safety standards, including use of personal protective equipment.
• Provide overall leadership for the exploration division and mentor staff.
• Develop growth strategies and evaluate performance and productivity.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the CEO.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Geology, Geophysics, Geochemistry, Environmental Geology, Engineering Geology, Earth Sciences or equivalent.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline.
• At least ten (10) years of relevant experience, with five (5) years in a management role.
• Completion of a recognised management/leadership course of at least four weeks.
• Registration with the Geologist Registration Board (GRB) in good standing.
• Proficiency in computer applications.
• Fulfilment of the requirements of chapter six of the constitution.

What we offer

• Basic salary range: KES 181,501 – 318,550 per month, plus housing and commuter allowances.
• Five‑year renewable contract, subject to retirement age and performance.
