Mechanical Engineer – Manufacturing

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our manufacturing team in Nairobi, Westlands. This full‑time position focuses on maintaining equipment reliability, optimizing production processes, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and corrective repairs on mechanical systems and production machinery.
• Diagnose faults in hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems and implement effective solutions.
• Develop and manage maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.
• Analyze production processes, recommend efficiency improvements, and support Lean Manufacturing and TPM initiatives.
• Design, modify, and improve mechanical components using CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
• Participate in installation, commissioning, and upgrades of machinery.
• Provide rapid response to breakdowns, conduct root‑cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
• Liaise with vendors and external contractors for equipment servicing and procurement.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably steel, roofing, or fabrication.
• Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Hands‑on experience with industrial machinery and production equipment.
