Mechanical Specialist

About the role

As a Mechanical Specialist at Mars Snacking in Nairobi, you will lead the execution of maintenance programmes for plant equipment and facilities. You will ensure operational performance and reliability of production assets while upholding the company’s high standards for quality, food safety, health and environment.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair gear and power transmissions, drives, motors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Respond quickly to line breakdowns, minimise production loss and work with engineers on long‑term improvements.
• Implement, review and continuously improve preventive, autonomous and condition‑based maintenance programmes.
• Supervise contractors and suppliers, ensuring safety and quality compliance.
• Coach and mentor associates to build internal maintenance capability.
• Manage mechanical spare‑parts inventory in line with the maintenance strategy.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial environment.
• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent.
• Fluent English, able to work both day and night shifts.
• Proactive attitude, strong problem‑solving skills and familiarity with CMMS.
