About the role
The Mechanical Technician – Production will ensure that all production machinery and mechanical equipment operate reliably and efficiently. You will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and improving equipment in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
Key responsibilities
- Perform preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance on production machinery and mechanical equipment.
- Inspect machinery regularly to identify potential issues before failures occur.
- Replace worn or damaged components such as bearings, belts, gears, shafts, chains, seals and couplings.
- Maintain hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication and mechanical drive systems.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, diagnose faults and repair equipment while adhering to quality and safety standards.
- Support production teams by ensuring equipment runs at maximum efficiency and assisting with changeovers and machine setups.
- Assist in the installation, alignment, commissioning and testing of new machinery.
- Identify recurring failures and contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing, TPM and 5S.
- Monitor spare‑parts usage, manage inventory and maintain tools and maintenance equipment.
- Complete maintenance reports, service records and documentation, and follow LOTO procedures.
Required profile
- Entry‑level candidates with at least 24 months of experience in mechanical maintenance.
- Ability to work in a production environment and respond quickly to equipment breakdowns.
- Commitment to follow health, safety and environmental policies, including Lockout/Tagout procedures.
Required skills
- Preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance techniques
- Hydraulic, pneumatic and lubrication system knowledge
- Mechanical drive system troubleshooting
- Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures
- Lean Manufacturing, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and 5S methodologies
What we offer
- Monthly salary between KES 15,000 and KES 30,000.
- Full‑time permanent position in a manufacturing environment.
