Media Relations Associate – Remote

About the role

GiveDirectly is seeking a Media Relations Associate to lead earned‑media outreach for its cash‑transfer programs. Working remotely, you will identify and engage journalists, newsletter authors, podcasters and public thinkers who can amplify the impact of our research and emergency response initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Research and target appropriate media outlets, newsletters, podcasts and online shows aligned with donor audiences.
• Craft and pitch compelling story ideas about cash transfers, research findings and program innovations.
• Prepare spokespeople for interviews and coordinate media visits with in‑country teams.
• Maintain a database of outreach attempts, track placements and report on results.
• Develop and nurture long‑term relationships with journalists, editors, producers and other media surrogates.
• Lead the adoption of AI‑powered tools and automations to streamline communications workflows.

Required profile

• Diploma or equivalent qualification.
• Relevant professional experience in media relations, public relations or communications.
