Medical Coding and Billing Specialist

About the role

The Medical Coding and Billing Specialist will ensure accurate processing of medical claims and timely revenue collection. Working closely with the coding department and insurance partners, you will play a key role in maintaining compliance and optimizing cash flow.

Key responsibilities

• Accurately code and submit medical claims using ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS standards.
• Verify patient information, insurance eligibility and coverage before claim submission.
• Track claims, follow up on unpaid or denied submissions and resolve billing discrepancies.
• Assist patients by explaining billing processes, payment options and account balances.
• Process patient and insurance payments, posting them to the appropriate accounts.
• Handle appeals, re‑submissions and under‑paid claim adjustments.
• Maintain detailed records of billing transactions, postings and account adjustments.
• Generate and analyse reports on collections, billing and accounts receivable to support revenue optimization.
• Collaborate with providers, insurers and billing staff to streamline processes and resolve issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Health Information Management, Accounting or a related field.
• 2‑3 years of experience in medical billing, coding or healthcare revenue cycle management.
• Strong understanding of insurance claims processing, healthcare regulations and reimbursement practices.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently in a high‑volume environment.
