MEP Expert for Data Center Engineering Review

About the role
Mercor is seeking an experienced Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing (MEP) expert to perform peer‑review of complex engineering tasks in mission‑critical data‑center environments. This technical role focuses on assessing design and field scenarios, fixing gaps in documentation, and ensuring outputs meet professional engineering standards.
Key responsibilities
- Review long‑horizon tasks covering data‑center cooling, hydronic and process‑water systems, coolant distribution units, heat exchangers, HVAC integration, electrical systems, building controls, and commissioning.
- Validate engineering assumptions, calculations, code and standards usage, equipment data, operating sequences, redundancy, and constructability.
- Identify ambiguities, conflicting source documents, missing constraints, or unrealistic deliverables.
- Improve task prompts, supporting artifacts, acceptance criteria, rubrics, and programmatic checks.
- Produce clear technical findings and validate corrected tasks from start to finish.
Required profile
- Minimum 2 years of experience in data‑center or other mission‑critical MEP design, controls, commissioning, or operations.
- Background as senior/lead mechanical engineer, electrical engineer, plumbing/process engineer, controls/BAS engineer, commissioning engineer, MEP design manager, or technical director.
- Strong knowledge of data‑center systems and relevant codes/standards; PE or recognized commissioning credential preferred.
- Experience at a leading multidisciplinary, mission‑critical, or consulting engineering firm is strongly preferred.
- Ability to interpret large document sets, drawings, schedules, calculations, equipment submittals, and machine‑readable data.
- Precise, detail‑oriented, and capable of explaining technical issues clearly in writing.

What we offer
- 5–10 hours per week initially, with immediate start.
- Compensation ranging from $100 to $140 per hour, based on experience and role fit.
