Microsoft Security Architecture Lead – Africa

About the role

KPMG is seeking a senior‑level Microsoft Security Architecture Lead to shape and govern the technical architecture of all Microsoft security and cyber engagements across Africa. The role sits within the Technology & Innovation practice and acts as the primary technical authority on Microsoft security platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design commercially viable, Microsoft‑aligned security architectures for major cybersecurity pursuits before contract signing.
• Lead pre‑sales technical workshops, presenting KPMG’s security approach and Microsoft solution architecture to CISO and IT leadership.
• Review scopes of work and proposals to ensure deliverability, correct pricing, and alignment with Microsoft reference architectures.
• Define high‑level architectures for SOC deployments, Sentinel implementations, Defender roll‑outs, Zero Trust programmes, and IAM transformations.
• Maintain and evolve KPMG’s library of Microsoft security architecture templates, reference designs and playbooks.
• Provide technical governance on delivery engagements, attend design reviews, and act as escalation authority for architecture decisions.
• Conduct formal architecture reviews at delivery milestones to mitigate technical drift.
• Collaborate with internal teams to document and standardise reusable Microsoft security delivery patterns.
• Maintain an active Microsoft security certification portfolio and stay current with Microsoft’s evolving security roadmap.

Required profile

• Senior Manager‑level experience in cybersecurity architecture and delivery.
• Proven ability to lead technical workshops and engage with senior client stakeholders.
• Strong governance mindset with experience reviewing proposals and ensuring compliance with reference architectures.
• Excellent communication skills to articulate complex security solutions.
