MSC Riding Gang Painter / Chipper

About the role

The Riding Gang Painter/Chipper works aboard MSC vessels to preserve and protect ship structures through surface preparation and coating. You will join a skilled team performing chipping, sanding, and painting in line with MSC and Navy standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare surfaces by removing rust, corrosion, old coatings and debris using hand and pneumatic tools, grinders and chipping hammers.
• Apply, touch‑up and maintain protective coatings on ship compartments, equipment and structures.
• Support corrosion‑control activities, including priming and painting of critical areas.
• Maintain cleanliness of tools, PPE and work areas, and ensure environmental and safety compliance.
• Record material usage, log work activities and communicate progress or issues to supervisors.

Required profile

• 1–3 years of experience in marine painting, chipping, preservation or corrosion control.
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional coatings or marine maintenance training preferred.
• Valid passport (minimum one year beyond hire date) and ability to travel internationally.
• Ability to meet contract medical requirements and obtain necessary facility credentials.
• Valid driver’s licence and capacity to obtain country‑specific visas.
