Operating Theatre Nurse

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Operating Theatre Nurse to provide safe, high‑quality peri‑operative care to patients undergoing surgical procedures at Nairobi West Hospital. The role involves close collaboration with surgeons, anaesthetists and the multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver safe, high‑quality nursing care throughout the peri‑operative period.
• Prepare and maintain the operating theatre, ensuring all equipment and supplies are ready and functional.
• Assist the surgical team during procedures, monitor patient vital signs, and respond to emergencies.
• Implement infection‑control protocols and maintain a sterile environment.
• Document patient care accurately and communicate relevant information to the post‑operative team.

Required profile

• BSc in Nursing or equivalent (KRN/KRCHN).
• Valid NCK nursing licence.
• Minimum two years’ experience in a busy hospital setting.
• Higher National Diploma in Peri‑Operative Nursing (KRPON) – preferred.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications; ATLS and PALS are recommended.
