Operational Finance Advisor

About the role

The Operational Finance Advisor provides strategic and operational financial support to MSF Ubuntu country programmes and operations. The role ensures sound financial stewardship, risk‑informed decision‑making, strong internal controls and financial accountability throughout the project cycle.

Key responsibilities

• Advise country programme teams on financial planning, budgeting and resource allocation, including feasibility assessments for new projects.
• Facilitate annual budget development, monitor performance against budgets, and produce financial analysis for management decisions.
• Ensure implementation of MSF Ubuntu financial policies, conduct internal control assessments and identify mitigation measures for financial risks.
• Support compliance with donor requirements, local regulations and audit preparation, and monitor adherence to financial authorization frameworks.
• Coach and mentor finance coordinators, develop finance tools and training materials, and strengthen financial management capacity within operations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration; professional managerial accounting qualification (e.g., CIMA) preferred.
• Minimum 5 years progressive finance experience, with at least 3 years supporting humanitarian, development or emergency operations.
• Experience in operational finance management within international NGOs is highly desirable.
