Operator – Rewinding Line (Mariakani)

About the role

The Operator will run the Rewinding Line in a steel processing environment, ensuring safe, efficient production and strict adherence to customer specifications. This is a hands‑on position focused on quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and monitor the Rewinding Line to meet production targets.
• Verify incoming coil identification, dimensions, and customer specifications.
• Adjust line speed, strip tension, and side guiding to maintain product quality.
• Continuously inspect strip surface for defects and ensure finished coils meet tightness, shape, and appearance requirements.
• Record production quantities, downtime, defects, and material traceability.
• Perform routine operator maintenance, daily inspections, and support scheduled shutdowns.
• Participate in quality management activities, including visual inspections, weight/width verification, and segregation of non‑conforming material.
• Comply with HSEQ policies, LOTOTO, Permit‑to‑Work, and 6S housekeeping standards.
• Contribute to TPM, Kaizen, and operational excellence initiatives.

Required profile

• KCSE Certificate or equivalent.
• Government Grade Test III in General Fitting, Mechanical Engineering Craft Certificate, or similar technical qualification.
• Minimum three (3) years of machine‑operating experience in a manufacturing setting.
• At least one (1) year of experience on a rewinding line or similar steel processing equipment.
• Knowledge of steel processing operations and ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 systems.
