Part-Time External Auditor

About the role

We are seeking a part‑time External Auditor to conduct statutory audits, ensure tax compliance and strengthen internal controls for our clients in Kenya. The role involves direct interaction with the Kenya Revenue Authority and requires a solid background in audit and tax functions.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct external statutory audits of financial statements and accounting records.
• Verify accuracy of financial reports, ledgers, reconciliations and supporting documentation.
• Review VAT returns, payroll records and statutory deductions for compliance.
• Assess tax compliance (VAT, PAYE, corporate tax) and provide advisory on risk mitigation.
• Evaluate internal controls and financial management systems, recommending corrective actions.
• Represent the company in engagements with the Kenya Revenue Authority, responding to audit queries and tax assessments.
• Review payroll systems to ensure correct computation of deductions and statutory remittances.
• Prepare detailed audit reports, present findings to management and advise on financial compliance improvements.

Required profile

• Degree in Finance or a related field and CPA‑K qualification.
• Minimum 3 + years experience in statutory audit and tax audit functions.
• Strong experience in financial reporting, VAT, payroll audits and tax compliance.
• Proven experience dealing with regulatory bodies, especially the Kenya Revenue Authority.
