Payroll Advisor – Level 1

About the role

The Payroll Advisor – Level 1 will deliver accurate and confidential payroll and pension services for Absa Bank Kenya Plc. Working within defined SOPs, the role ensures timely processing, compliance with regulatory requirements, and high‑quality support for employees and pensioners.

Key responsibilities

• Process all payroll and pension activities in line with country‑specific procedures, including back pay, overtime, leave pay, cost‑centre changes and regulatory deductions (PAYE, NSSF, pension contributions).
• Maintain a complete audit trail of authorisations for payroll adjustments and ensure required approvals are obtained.
• Prepare monthly, annual and ad‑hoc payroll reports for internal and external stakeholders, including regulators and pension administrators.
• Execute expatriate payroll requirements in coordination with external advisors (e.g., PWC/KPMG).
• Handle tax year‑end processing and ensure compliance with all regulatory and internal risk‑management frameworks.
• File payroll and pension records promptly and accurately to minimise risk and support customer service.
• Distribute payslips and respond to employee queries regarding payroll matters.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality of payroll data.
• Understanding of payroll governance, risk management and regulatory compliance.
• Capability to follow standard operating procedures and maintain accurate documentation.
• Proficiency in preparing and analysing payroll reports.
