Pharmaceutical Technologist – Nairobi

About the role

The Pharmaceutical Technologist will work on‑site in the Avenue Healthcare pharmacy in Nairobi, ensuring safe dispensing of medicines, maintaining stock levels and supporting medication safety in line with corporate policies.

Key responsibilities

• Verify prescriptions, dispense medicines and provide clear usage instructions to patients.
• Maintain pharmacy equipment, ensure it is functional and adhere to insurance exclusion lists.
• Monitor stock, perform daily counts, spot checks and monthly stock takes, reporting variances and expiries.
• Manage drug expiries, implement FIFO/FEFO, label short‑expiry items and coordinate disposal according to PPB regulations.
• Chart fridge temperatures twice daily and report any deviations.
• Track pharmacy quality indicators and report incidents within 24 hours.
• Support doctors with alternatives for out‑of‑stock or OTC medicines.
• Uphold infection‑control standards during extemporaneous preparations and protect patient privacy.

Required profile

• Diploma in Pharmacy and a valid Pharmaceutical Technologist licence.
• Minimum three years of relevant pharmacy experience.
• Strong organisational awareness, detail‑orientation and reliability.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to work effectively in a team.
