Plumber I-II – Facility Maintenance (Multiple Locations)

About the role

Under general supervision, the Plumber I‑II provides all levels of plumbing and gas‑fitting maintenance for school and building equipment systems across multiple locations. The role involves diagnosing, installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing and gas‑related equipment while frequently working independently.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze, troubleshoot, and repair plumbing and gas‑fitting systems.
• Install, replace, and maintain equipment in schools and other facilities.
• Prefabricate and alter piping as required.
• Mentor and assist less‑experienced plumbing staff.
• Follow safety protocols and use protective equipment when handling hazardous materials.

Required profile

• Valid Backflow Prevention Certification.
• Active Journeyman Plumber License.
• High School diploma or GED; completion of an approved apprenticeship program.
• Four years of progressive plumbing or pipe‑fitting experience, including two years at an apprentice‑II level or equivalent.
• Ability to work beyond a standard 40‑hour week when needed.

Required skills

• Plumbing and gas‑fitting techniques.
• Use of plumbing tools and equipment.
• Backflow prevention procedures.
• Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) usage.
• Knowledge of electrical and mechanical components related to plumbing systems.
