Product Applications Engineer

About the role

The Product Applications Engineer will work at Veeco’s Boise location, focusing on developing new applications and supporting customers for ion beam systems. The role bridges R&D, sales, and service to drive product innovation and improve process performance.

Key responsibilities

• Engage closely with customers to develop applications and optimize process performance on ion beam systems.
• Develop and maintain best known methods (BKMs) for process control, development, and continuous improvement.
• Drive adoption of BKMs and new applications across internal teams and customers.
• Maintain working knowledge of ion beam system hardware, processes, and diagnostics; plan and implement measures to enhance system performance.
• Troubleshoot process issues, collaborating with service and engineering teams to deliver solutions.
• Present technical aspects of products to customers and sales channels.
• Provide training and technical assistance to team members, customers, and partners.
• Participate in cross‑functional teams with service, sales, product, marketing, and engineering to support revenue goals.
• Conduct technical trainings and stay up‑to‑date with product line information.

Required profile

• Strong technical background in ion beam technology or related material‑science fields.
• Ability to interact effectively with customers, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
• Proven problem‑solving skills and capacity to drive solutions across teams.
• Excellent communication skills for presenting technical information and delivering training.
• Team‑oriented mindset with willingness to collaborate in cross‑functional environments.
