Production Officer – Dairy Processing

About the role

The Production Officer will lead dairy processing activities at Chuka University’s Food Technology Department, ensuring the efficient production of high‑quality dairy products while adhering to food safety, quality, and occupational health standards.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise the entire dairy processing workflow from raw milk reception to final product packaging.
• Develop and implement production schedules to optimise resource utilisation.
• Manage production staff, ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures.
• Monitor and enforce food safety, quality assurance, and health‑and‑safety regulations.
• Track production performance, generate reports, and recommend productivity improvements.
• Maintain production records and coordinate equipment maintenance with the Maintenance Technician.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Chairperson of the Department.

Required profile

• Diploma in Dairy Technology or an equivalent qualification recognised in Kenya.
• Minimum five years of relevant experience in dairy or food processing operations.
• Strong knowledge of food safety, quality assurance, and occupational health standards.
• Ability to lead a team and manage production schedules.

Required skills

• Proficiency in computer applications for production reporting.
