About the role
UN Women is seeking a Programme Analyst to support the design, implementation, monitoring and donor reporting of Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE) initiatives across the Eastern and Southern Africa region. The role is based in Nairobi and will work closely with regional offices, partners and multilateral development banks.
Key responsibilities
- Contribute to the development of programme strategies and design of project proposals on WEE.
- Coordinate the preparation of AfDB and other IFI proposals, concept notes and technical reviews.
- Lead implementation of programme activities, including call for proposals, partner capacity assessments and results‑based monitoring.
- Provide technical support for partner financial and narrative reporting and train partners on Results Based Management.
- Develop advocacy, knowledge‑management and communication products, and support resource mobilisation efforts.
- Monitor budget implementation, prepare financial reports and ensure alignment with UN Women and donor requirements.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in social sciences, gender studies, international development, economics or related field (or equivalent combination of a first‑level degree plus two years experience).
- Minimum two years of progressive experience in development programme implementation, monitoring, evaluation and donor reporting, preferably in a UN or multilateral environment.
- Experience in women’s economic empowerment, entrepreneurship, gender‑responsive procurement or financial inclusion is desirable.
- Familiarity with government agencies and multilateral development banks is an asset.
